Schizophyllum commune

Latin NameObservation dateLocation
Schizophyllum communeMarch 05 2026Central Aceh Regency,Aceh, Indonesia

This is a wood fungus, this fungus has a very large population in my area, we can even easily find this fungus almost anywhere, as the name suggests this fungus can only grow on wood or tree fronds that are dead and rotting, the uniqueness of this fungus can be seen in terms of its shape, visually the shape is thin but the sides are serrated like a hacksaw, this fungus is generally white but during the rainy season this fungus will sometimes be yellowish white because it absorbs more water. I have never found this fungus growing directly on the ground, whether this fungus can grow other than on trees or not I don't know.

The good news is that this mushroom is edible, but its texture is hard and tough, making it less suitable for older people. The taste also depends on how it's cooked. My auntie usually picks wood mushrooms that grow on dead mango trees.
Okay everyone, here are some pictures of this mushroom.
