Genus Carbula

I spotted a particular type of stink bug perched on a twig of an ornamental plant in front of my house—an insect widely detested for its ability to damage various plants from the inside out. Farmers are likely familiar with this pest; it possesses specialized mouthparts used to pierce plant stems, leaves, or fruit to suck out the sap, often leaving plants that appear healthy on the surface while the interior is already damaged. Furthermore, this insect can secrete a foul-smelling fluid from its body, usually when it feels threatened. The odor is incredibly pungent, making the decision to handle the insect a very bad idea. These insects are easily found in plantations or along forest edges, and can even be spotted on ornamental plants or young crops. Because they are so tiny, I had to use a macro lens to photograph them; the results were highly satisfying, as the images clearly reveal every detail of the insect.

This particular insect has a pair of black antennae that allow it to easily detect any movement. It is an insect I thoroughly dislike—everything from its appearance to its habits.
