Dee's Secret.

Sincerely, if you ask me, I would tell you I won't really want a robot like that. Everyone has their flaws, and I believe same would apply to such a robot too. Either it goes overboard with what it does and how it react to things or it wouldn't match up to what u would expect it want from a human.

But then, something happened. I got a new job somewhere and it forced me to change environment. So, I happen to meet this guy and my first day in town, he directed me to where I was going while telling me the place is close to his own place as well. Well, that was the begining of our friendship. He told me his name was Dee. I even hiked as asked him if it was Idowu or something that he shortens to Dee, he just smiled and asked me to call him Dee.

Believe me, if he was a girl, I would have fell for her. He's cute, tall, has a good white set of teeths, adorable smile and all. We exchanged contacts and began seeing more often, mostly on weekends. And believe me, this guy was always there for me, I would rant about the whole day to him and he has this way of making me feel calm, he listens, he doesn't judge, he gives me advices in certain issues and all.

So, one particular evening, I invited him over to my place, it's high time we get more closer. And trust the great chef that I am, I had cooked jollof rice and chicken for him. So, when he came, I made him feel comfortable, put on the television and played a beautiful song low-key.

"Welcome to my home Dee." I said balancing a tray of jollof rice in the stool next to him.

"Thanks Toyo." He replied with that cute smile of his.

"Sorry it's small, but heko eat it out of love." I said with a smile.

"Ohhh, no, you don't need to bother." He said, pleading.

Well, it just so happened that he didn't eat the food before going, and I kind of just didn't think much about it. I'm not even the one to get angry, it's what I do a lot too. I don't eat out, so why should ubget angry if someone did same to me.

The next time he came over, he declined again, so I just went to the fridge to get him a table water. But his response was, "I'm okay Toyo, thanks a lot." So, ya refusing water too, well, we all can be strange and different in our different ways. So, I allowed that slide as well.

So, there was a time I asked him about his place and if I could come around, but he waved the topic off and said something else. But trust me, I persisted, so he agreed and I went visiting. I was a little surprised at what I saw, is this guy a tech guy, maybe a scientist. He has different appliances and all in his home. So, I asked him if he was a scientist since he never opened up to me about what he really does, and his response was, "maybe." Well, I felt somehow. To me, I feel we are very close more than all of that, he shows up for me, we discuss, we laugh and all. I can tell that he's very intelligent though, but is he finding it hard to trust or confide in me.

So, one day something happened, our light went off, there was blackout everywhere. Nepa did their thing by disappointing us m, and this time it wasn't for a day or two, it was for weeks. I was on leave at work as well. So, I got bored one day and decided to go visit my friend unannounced. I got to his place and knocked, there was no response. I tried the door knob and it gave way. The door opened wide, I greeted, shouted his name and all I got no response. I could hear sounds from inside though, "Maybe he's busy," I thought and went in.

But then, I was surprised at what I saw. He was down, looking pale like a sick person.....

"Dee, what's wrong with you!" I asked.

"The light has destroyed my charger, and my power storage is down." He managed to say.

"So, ya being this way because your charger and powerbank is spoiled?" I responded trying to hide my smile.

Sincerely, I thought he was joking.m, not until he looked at me and said. "Toyo, I'm sorry, I'm not human."

"Common, where's all this coming fro......" He didn't let me finish be fire he cut me off and continued.

"I'm a robot, one built to feel, connect and love, but it's like I'm not made for this country with a bad power supply."

The confession was getting serious, but that part really made me laugh. We discussed more and asked how u could be if help, he told me certain things to help with and at the end, he fit back up on his feet.

"So, did you fake the care, love, friendship and all?" I asked him when he was stable.

"No, believe me it was all real. I really do feel." He responded.

It was then I understand why he didn't want to open up to me at first. I guess he didn't know what to expect and just wanted to show me how real and loveable he can be.

And that was how we continued our friendship. So, yes I would choose to be friends with a robot, I'm not saying humans aren't good, but humans will not always be available, I know when light does it's thing again too, Dee might be unavailable as well😁😁, but then, I love that he doesn't judge me, he knows when and how to respond, he knows when to let go and when to press on an issue, and he never dismissed my emotions.

But then again, I would wouldn't choose him over human. Robots cannot replace humans for me. He was created by one. But we will definitely be good friends, and I trust that I will learn a whole lot from him and be a better human, God helping me, I pray I won't teach him aproko(gossip) ,😁😁😁
