Why Engineering is Hard?

Have you ever gotten to the point of doing nothing because there's a lot to do?

I have.

And let me tell you this

Studying wasn't really my forte, and so is taking up a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.

Mechanics of Deformable Bodies
Dynamics of Rigid Bodies
Statics of Rigid Bodies
Differential Equation

And many more.

There are too many complicated courses to mention. I took a program that wasn't easy at all, and now I am suffering from my decision.

You need to be good at analysis and understanding the concept.

Why?

Not all the time you can just memorize the formulas or solutions because time will come when you will realize that you can only solve one problem that you are most familiar with. You can't solve the others, and that's hard.

One thing I learned as a 2nd-year student was to solve many problems over and over again until I no longer needed to memorize formulas.

Our instructors would always tell us to deeply reflect on ourselves as to what we really love to pursue because that would make a difference in the upcoming years.

That would make a difference in how we view our suffering as engineering students, and it would also make a difference in how we react to certain negative things during our endeavor.

So, going to college wasn't an easy feat, especially in choosing a program, because even if you have chosen something, it wouldn't mean that you will definitely pursue that one because you might realize something on your 3rd or 4th year or after graduating that it is not the program you really love but a spur of the moment love that you interchange with long-term love.

We were taught that if we ever forget a formula, all we have to do is derive it from other formulas.

Studying math stuff has made me learn that they only have a few formulas, but a lot of formulas were derived from them. Like the formula for constant acceleration, they were derived from constant velocity, and velocity was derived from position.

Everything I have studied has been interconnected, and I just need to find that connection in order to understand any problems that I will come across, and that's the hardest part. Looking for that connection is similar to understanding the concept.

Many of you might think of it as an easy program, but I don't, and so I find myself in a serious life dilemma.

I find myself puzzling because I have always loved writing, and sometimes I also want to pursue it. But maturing means realizing that we all have to sacrifice to survive. But that doesn't mean that I wasn't able to love engineering. As time passed, I enjoyed myself with numbers, especially since I have friends who make my university life amazing and fun.

Gory is the sparrow's name.

Say hi to Gory! 👋

This photo was taken during my online class, and my friends fed Gory during this time because it hadn't eaten yet. They actually found Gory at the Civil Engineering Laboratory, where we conduct our lecture. It was found specifically in the miniature house that was made by the civil engineering students.

During this time, my heart is happy because I realized that Gory is always trying its best to fly and to live, and so am I. We're similar in many things, so my heart is in a meaningful state.

But on the day the picture was taken, Gory flew away back to its home, back to where it truly belonged. It made its way back home after getting a lot of energy, and so we're happy.

Going Back Home

I am also going home.

After exhaustion from everything as a university student, I can finally have my rest.

I guess life has always been like this.

We will be draining as students, and we will get so tired to the point of quitting, but in the end, rest is all we need. A home where our heart is comfortable and our mind is put at ease.

There is no easy program, and so we just have to survive in our own chosen program. But we should also take into account making ourselves happy while reaching for our dreams.

Adios!
