RE: Lesser Known 5th Generation Video Game Consoles - Trivia Tuesday #15

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

Who knows how the world of gaming would be had the lesser-known 5th Generation video game consoles caught fire. The ones from Atari and Commodore (under the Amiga brand) should have been more widely available, but those brands suffered in the marketplace at that time.

Atari seems to be enjoying a renaissance of some sorts, but it's too late for its Jaguar console.

Even during the C64 era, Commodore was in trouble worldwide but holding its own in certain regions. Had it not been for Amiga-- especially the Amiga 500 and Amiga 2500 models of home computers-- Commodore would have been done. Despite its graphics superiority compared to the Apple Macintosh computers of the time, Commodore and its Amiga computers were limited to niche markets. Amiga CD32 should have changed that, but it did not.

I haven't used any of those gaming consoles, but I speak of the Amiga CD32 based on my experience having used and sold the Amiga 500 computers.

Thanks for taking time to publish this post. It was educational for me, as well. Please accept this slice of !PIZZA, bit of !LUV, some !LOLZ, and a !BBH.

Glad this was educational for you.

I only known Commodore because of its loyal fans online. There are even competitions on Itch.io to create Commodore64 ROMs that work on the original hardware, I find that admirable!! LINK!

Will you be interested in other generations lesser known consoles? I chose the 5th generation because I have fond memories with the PlayStation, but I'm interested in the 4th generation as well, so I'm considering doing that for the next Trivia Tuesday.

Have some 🍕 !PIZZA with 💞 !LUV

You know what? It's good for people to know what else is out there which is just as good as the 2 or 3 market leaders. For niche users, these may even be exactly what they need rather than what everyone else and their pet fish use. I look forward to your next Trivia Tuesday post!
