Xbox Series X part 2 - How to get one when there is no stock (in Australia)

In the previous video I talked about why I want to buy an Xbox series X. In case you hadn't seen it, basically I visited a friend's house who had one and he showed me what it's like, and he also explained that there was no stock anywhere in Australia. I then went home and did my research to find out why that was - basically to build a equivalent PC you would spend 3 times the price.

This has made me want to buy one very badly as I would much rather spend just $750 AUD and get a $2000+ AUD machine rather than building one myself. Unfortunately wanting to buy one is different to actually getting one, because it is very hard to get. Currently it is out of stock all over Australia and possibly world wide, because of how cheap it is for what it can do.

At first I called up stores around my house (in Brisbane/Ipswich, Queensland, Australia). Some of the stores I tried include Target, JB Hi-fi, and EB Games. Out of all those stores, only JB Hi-Fi was willing to take a pre-order. Every other store just told me that they are not taking pre orders because they had no idea when stock would arrive. I tried the Microsoft Website online chat who also told me that they had no stock and was not taking pre-orders.

JB Hi-fi Ipswich requested that I pay $50 AUD up front physically in store to make the pre-order. I thought it was pretty reasonable as they needed to know I'm serious about buying one. They also said that I was able to get a refund at any time if I didn't want it anymore, which I thought was also very kind of them. I guess they can do that because they know they will be able to sell this product no matter what given the demand.

After about a month, JB Hi-fi Ipswich sent me a mobile SMS message saying that there is now stock and I can go there within 7 days to pick it up. I even ended up using a gift card to buy it which gave me another 6% off. Overall very happy with JB Hi-fi Ipswich. As you guys know I have bought other things with them before (a Google Pixel 4A 5G) at a very cheap price, and now that they've sold me an Xbox series X, I think I will buy other things from them in the future as well.
