Rugged Gadget, Is it only a gimmick?
The other day I saw nokia is releasing Nokia XR21. It's apparently marketed for its endurance and adventure ready. Somehow, I am sold with this phone and it shows different ways that it can be used during trekking or even soap washing. My only concern is that, is it only a gimmick?
In the market, there are only a few rugged phones and it's also quite niche. These rugged phones are for people who work outside a lot but for regular user, it works for someone like me who is rather clumsy. According to GSM arena the phone was released back in May 2023 and a few feature is still market dependent.
Today, we know that Nokia is quite a dying brand. Although in the past, they certainly is the epitome of ruggedness. Remember the memes and the jokes about how durable Nokia is? they certainly live up to its name. Yet today, even samsung can be quite rugged.
Unlike most people, my criteria of a phone or any type of gadget have always been ruggedness. The only problem I have is that, my budget isn't a 'military' friendly, let alone something that could cost an arm or leg. While there are affordable ones out there, but the brand name doesn't quite convinced me. I have a friend who are using dogeee and is quite durable but even hearing the name can sound quite ridiculous isn't it?
So, do you think that Nokia releasing XR21 isn't a gimmick?

That Nokia looks good quality, with the tests you did it could be a good buying option, what I wonder is: if it's from Nokia what happens if you drop it? Good post thanks for the input haha. :)

Once again we see that Nokia is coming back in the market and now introducing its good mobiles so we will see that people have a lot of faith in this brand and its Mobiles will definitely be popular.
Right? I mean they need to make a comeback and they do.
If its nokia, it's expectation = reality... I have a bias with nokia too. 😄
hahahaha I have bias to Nokia as well and genuinely want them to come back with great products. I mean, I grew up with their phone and it's always awesome until Samsung takes over.
For me it would be pretty good the only thing I do consider something important is in terms of weight, because in the long run a very heavy phone due to the high resistance can be annoying for the hand cause problems in the tendons or muscles and if we have the bad habit of grabbing it with one hand we can also damage the little finger or fingers of the hand.
