The Edtech Indaba 2025: How It Went Down.
Technology empowers learning and makes learning more intelligent.
- Psalms Kalu.
Another historic event was recorded in the city of Aba, Abia State today, October 3, 2025. It wasn't a social nor political event but an EdTech conference, The Edtech Indaba 2025 tagged "Smart Learning For A Smart Future." The event was held Nobik Int'l Events Centre, located at 7Up close, Ogbor Hill.
The conference which was put together by Ashpot, a tech hub in Aba, is geared towards bringing together Edtech innovators, educators, school owners, teachers, and students inorder to explore ways by which technology can transform learning and shape the future of learning in accordance with the theme - Smart learning for a smart future.
The event had in attendance teachers and students from various schools in Aba, including Edtech innovators, resource persons, IT personnels, the media, which my station, Magic 102.9 FM was part of and MTN NG.
One of the resource persons, Frank Uchehara, the co-founder, Frankbotics Tech, Owerri, Imo State.
Okey O., co founder, Broadcast Computers / Digital Skill Leads, Aba.
Also in attendance was the Abแปa State Commissioner for Science and Technology, David Kalu. In his speech, he urged all, especially the young ones, to seize the opportunities at the event to acquire smart learning and expand their horizons into the global space, where the tech field offers endless possibilities for those willing to achieve greatness.

The event featured lectures and trainings from resource persons, meet and greet, and quiz. Winners of the quiz got prizes ranging from MTN 5G Wifi to laptop and other freebies.
Also featured was the launch of two softwares built by Ashpot:
- The EarlyStart, basically for students who'd be going into coding.
- Schoolzy, a management software basically for schools which would help in the management of school - inventor, admission process, examination, result, finance, administration etc.

During his talk, the convener, Psalms Kalu said the Edtech Indaba 2025 is all about "training the trainers, educating the educators, empowering the teachers, and fostering a synergy for colloboration to build a better and smarter educational future for the young ones in the State.
He pointed out that technological advancement is moving at a fast pace and educational institutions need to key in and embrace the smart future. He ended by saying that the conference would be held annually and participation is absolutely free.
He also added that there will be a 3 weeks bootcamp (virtual training) for over 50 teachers sponsored by Cloud Education Solutions (CloudEdu) by the 2nd week of October and urged teachers to seize the opportunity and get registered.
For the record, Ashpot is a private tech hub that's into tech trainings - coding, skill trainings acquisition, plus building of tech products.
It was an interesting, educating and value packed event. Chatting with a participant during the meet-and-greet session, a teacher, she expresses profound joy for the opportunity to be at the event, adding that from the teachings she's now empowered to work smarter - create lesson notes, generate quizzes and answers, monitor the activities of the students etc, with the help of Ai.
It was nice to see educators eager to embrace smart education and students, smart learning for a better future.
I must say that this event came at the right time when Ai is revolutionizing the tech world. I must commend the organizers, wishing them more successful events in the future.
