TECHNOLOGY AND EDUCATION

Technology is taking over.. literally almost everything requires technology. The world is evolving and we are clearly also evolving.. I feel like very soon education will be based mainly on technology.. so yeah, what exactly are we talking about?

As much as I like to say that technology has good effect on me, I’ll also say it has its own ‘bad’. In my sec school (high school), we didn’t use technology that much..except from some set of people who were into coding, of course.

The only time we had to dive into technology well was during the Covid-19’s. I mean we could not have physical class anymore.. we were even shared phone with SIM card So, I had more reason to enjoying myself and to put away studying for a while, this made me lag behind.

It was hard to study honestly.. for someone like me, I prefer physical lessons (there is this connection, I don’t know, hehe). Fun fact about me, I hardly forget anything explained to me, physically.

Education with technology will serve as a distraction.. especially when it has to deal with your phone, I mean why would I want to concentrate on some studying.. when I can watch movies, play games, go on insta, chat with friends..have fun while making it sounds to my parents like I had being on zoom

But yes, technology can be of great help. There are sometimes where you need the internet, our teacher can’t do all.. in fact our teachers want to us to search more, they want us to dive in… to explore.

Most teachers gives the lectures superficially or so, then we have to search more. I remembered when my chemistry told us that “if you only rely on my notes, I am not saying you will not pass but you will not pass extraordinary, you prolly get a B or a C”. (so, you either listen attentively to grab the important stuff which he won’t write in his note or just search online.)

And my physics teacher? that man was always involving technology in most of his doings when he became my teacher, I began to lag, I couldn’t cope with all technology stuff honestly or maybe I was just lazy.. and I was just getting used to it.

People who didn’t have phone before the covid19 were affected as for me, it was the data consumption and data cost because he would tell you “go to this site do this and this… you are going to explain this to the class or it might be your test”.

Even note were sent online, I just got tired and like I said I lagged behind. But yeah I knew I had no choice than to buckle up.

But still, There is this comfort that technology started to bring in that you don’t even care to listen in class.. you have this courage like “hm.. what can go wrong? I prolly just check out some YouTube videos later. You know it is a win-win” hehe.

In the next (seven years..I feel like seven years is quite far) but yeah, seven years, I have a strong feeling that technology and education would have been ‘best friend’.

When I figured out that gradually most things are needing technology, they are needing my phone or laptop and I also knew quite well that I was lagging behind.. I knew I had no time but to cut off distractions.

Though it was hard but yeah, I am getting used, getting better with combining technology with education.
I think, in my opinion, that if you could cut off the distraction and stay focus when necessary, you realize that technology actually aids learning.

I have come to learn that technology does help education, only if you not letting it help you. My teachers recommend site, YouTube video and even share a lot pdf that can aid our learning.

In conclusion though, I prefer physical explanation.. where I can see your face and look into your eyes to feel you and go along with you.. head to head but then I love the backup of technology.
