Water, Water Everywhere
It has been hazy the past few days, thanks in part to the forest fires in the surrounding areas. The smoke is not so good for our health, but it creates some interesting scenes for photography. This drop is one of my favourite photographic subjects because it's such a great idea for Vancouver, which is a rainy city. Besides the haze that you can see against a backdrop of mountains, usually sharp and blue, I was also attracted by the yellow pile of sulfur floating on the ocean. I was going to leave the drop alone, but when I saw the aquaplane gliding across the water as it prepared for take off, I raced across the square, positioned the camera on the railing and snap. You can see the plane right above the yellow pile.

Phew! I got there just in time

The same thing has happened here. Smoke has rolled in like fog from the terrible fires in the north, making the landscape look very different. What a beautiful postcard!
A few years ago the city was full of smoke, and it was hard to breath. This year hasn't been as bad, but it's still smoky and very little summer rain.
It doesn't rain here in summer either, but there isn't as much smoke... they're changing the climate, have you noticed?
It depends on the year for us because our climate is dependent on the waters of the Pacific ocean. Sometimes summers are wet and sometimes dry. Last year was colder than usual in summer so the fire season was not so bad.
Let us hope there are no more fires, let us hope.
