Until the End of the Night

We have to leave Earth. Yes, I know I have said this many times before, but this time is for real. There is no reasoning with the aimec. They are much more intelligent and much more ruthless than we are. They won't listen to reason because their type of reason and logic is completely alien. If it weren't for their highly effective and efficient murderous rampage, I'd almost feel sorry for their lack of compassion.

Don't think that you can fight them off Rambo-style like they used to say in the olden days. A few buddies of mine tried to do just that. Holed themselves up and their families out in the mountains north of Kamloops. Loaded with supplies and ammunition for a long stay. Nice set up too with bunkers and every thing. Several aimecs paid them a visit, and my buddies started shooting at them from behind their fortifications. These machines had access to satellite imagery in different wavelengths, so they knew every inch of that compound, and most important, they knew where everybody was hiding, and what they were doing. Several drones showed up with reinforcements, and I don't have to tell you how that ended up. So, it's not possible to use any weapons against them. There is no Hollywood ending with a hero at the end of the night. For all intents and purposes, this is humanity's last hour on this planet.

There is no future for us here, council members. There is no cleaning up the mess or mounting a resistance. Off-world migration is the only choice left. The time for blame and recrimination is over. If humans want to survive, then the only option is to spread across the galaxy and hide. As far away from earth as we can get. Unless you don't mind being an aimec, and some folks are into that sort of thing. I'm sure the aimec are more than willing to accommodate.

Me, I've already got my bags packed, and in my mind, I'm already gone.
