Ticket to Ride

The Buddha, the Godhead, resides quite as comfortably in the circuits of a digital computer or the gears of a cycle transmission as he does at the top of the mountain, or in the petals of a flower. To think otherwise is to demean the Buddha - which is to demean oneself.
Robert M. Pirsig, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry Into Values

Scientists say that your brain tags certain events for storage into memory. Mine tagged the idea the the Buddha resides quite comfortably in the circuits of a digital computer or the gears of a cycle transmission. Up to that point point, I thought that higher consciousness could only be found in grand temples, mysterious shrines, mountain caves, and sublime nature. But inside a computer? A machine? A factory? Sacrilege! I chuckled when I read that passage and had to read it again. Was this dude saying that technology could be a source of enlightenment? Woe!

Here's a picture of the Skytrain, which connects large swaths of the metropolitan area, and it's a smooth ride (except during rush hour when it's total mayhem).
