Shore Life

Downtown Vancouver is basically an island surrounded by the waters of the Pacific ocean. There are several bridges that connect the different landmasses, but sometimes it's more convenient to take the small ferries that crisscross the waters of the bay and the inlet called False Creek, which hugs the downtown core.

The lit walkway in the photograph below leads to the floating ferry dock. To the left, you can see the little ferry approaching from the Maritime Museum area, and after it picks up the passengers, it will move on to Granville island in less than ten minutes.

It's cool taking the ferry because the dock is floating on the water so it moves up and down, especially when the waves are large. So it's fun.
