Newton's Bodkin
A stream of light struck the moon,
Then bounced at an angle of inflection
An eye nearby trapped it in a web sensors
(so called rods and cones)
In chemical bonds
Across electrical pathways it flowed
Ballistic
Transmitting each action potential.
Axonic channels deliver the ganglion transmissions
The monochromatic transduction
Full colorful lines
A dimness of light
Acuity to clear the confusion.
Cells relay message from station to station
Glowing brightly in the cognitive night,
Deep centers of neural reception
Where the moon on the water shimmers-
So far and so near
In a placid lake of perception.
