FungiFriday || The beautiful Marasmius calhouniae mushroom
This is my contribution to #fungifriday organized by @ewkaw
Marasmius calhouniae mushroom is one of the mushroom species that attracts attention in taxonomic and ecological studies as "tanggoro calhoun" this mushroom has morphological and ecological characteristics that are interesting to study, I found this mushroom this morning on one of the rotting trees in my family's coconut plantation.
Marasmius calhouniae is included in the genus Marasmius which is a genus of mushrooms which generally have fruit bodies (basidiocrap) ranging from small to medium sized, this mushroom also has a characteristic cap (pileus) which is convex to flat, the fruit cap usually consists of a cap, a stem ( stipe) and sometimes this mushroom also has a small ring around the stem 1/2 centimeter below the mushroom cap.
Marasmius calhouniae mushrooms are usually found growing on rotting coconut trees like the one I found today, or it is very possible that you can find this mushroom growing on other organic material that has rotted in the forest. This fungus is a saprophyte which means mushroom These fungi obtain nutrients from breaking down organic matter such as decomposed leaves or dead wood. Their presence in forest ecosystems contributes to an important nutrient cycle, because these fungi help in the process of breaking down complex organic material and turning it into simple and easily absorbed forms by plants.
So this morning when I arrived at the garden, from a few meters I saw something white on a rotting coconut tree and I approached to confirm what I had just seen from a distance, omg, I feel lucky because I found a very mushroom beautiful with a bright white cap, but some of the mushroom caps had a lot of dirt on them, I tried to observe more carefully and finally I found many unique things that this mushroom has, one of which is the thin mushroom cap so that the reflection of light from above can penetrate the mushroom cap. and forms a landscape of light around the mushroom, this is really beautiful and amazing, I captured some pictures to share in the #fungifriday contest and I hope you are impressed.
Thanks very much:)
