Fungifriday || Daedaleopsis confragosa mushroom
This is my contribution to the #fungifriday contest organized by @ewkaw
today I found a beautiful species of mushroom in the garden and precisely on a durian tree that had long died and been left to rot naturally, so when I walked around the area my attention was attracted to something that looked striking on the trunk of the durian tree, a beautiful mushroom with a shape unique and striking colors grow on the surface of the durian tree, after researching further and being grateful I finally found out what type of fungus it was, this is the Daedaleopsis confragosa fungus or also known as bracket fungus.
as you can see in the photo, this mushroom has a sturdy fan-shaped fruit body with a hard and textured top surface, the colors are also mixed, there is a slight pale brown color and a slight bright red color, apart from that, another characteristic of this mushroom is small pores are located under the fruit body of the fungus, these small pores are the place where the spores develop and are released, Daedaleopsis confragosa only grows on dead wood or wood starting to rot, so their presence is on dead durian trees quite reasonable.
thanks to the discovery of the Daedaleopsis confragosa fungus today, it gave me the opportunity to reflect on their important role in the ecosystem, I am sure that the Daedaleopsis confragosa fungus is not just a passive inhabitant of dead wood but they also play a very important role in breaking down the durian tree into nutrients for the soil, so it can It is understood that the Daedaleopsis confragosa fungus breaks down cellulose and lignin, these are the two main components found in wood and returns them as important nutrients to the soil, this process is very important to maintain the balance of the ecosystem and especially the condition of the soil is always fertile in my garden.
on the other hand, seeing this fungus growing on one part of a dead durian tree also reminded me that nature always has a way of bringing something new to life through organic matter, new life, even if it is small, will definitely appear in a place that currently looks like it is no longer there. useful, well the discovery of the Daedaleopsis confragosa mushroom taught me an important lesson especially about how everything in the ecosystem is connected and has its own role, no matter how small or simple it seems, what is certain is that all living things on planet Earth are important.
What a beautiful mushroom, I like its shape and the combination of its colors
Beautiful shots, Mr. @lightofhope
