Eudocima serpentifera or often known as the snake butterfly is a species of butterfly that is stunning and has a unique appearance. This species is included in the Erebidae family and is famous for its wing pattern which resembles the color pattern of snake skin, and this pattern is very profitable. for butterflies because they use it for sabotage and tricking other predators, which means this butterfly has above average hiding abilities.
Eudocima serpentifera plays an important role in the ecosystem as a pollinator for various types of flowering plants, their presence is also an indicator of environmental health, but like many other butterfly species, they face threats and habitat loss from climate change, so efforts to preserve and protect their natural habitat are very important to be done in order to ensure the survival of this species.
Eudocima serpentifera has various adaptations that are interesting and help it survive, the camouflage pattern that resembles a snake is not only limited to tricking predators but also to distract birds or other predatory animals with its surprising appearance, apart from that they also have other defense mechanisms such as defensive behavior and quick reaction when feeling threatened.
