Epilachna varivestis or better known as "leaf beetle" is a type of insect that can be a serious pest on various agricultural crops and is most often problematic in legumes and vegetable crops. This beautiful beetle is included in the coccineliidae family or more commonly in known as the stalker beetle family, although most members of this beetle family are insect eaters or natural predators of other pests, Epilachna varivestis actually acts as a plant destroyer.

This beetle has a distinctive characteristic, namely a round body, with a dominant body color of reddish yellow, while small black spots decorate all parts of the beetle's body. This beetle has a relatively small body size but its ability to reproduce quickly makes it a threat. serious for the agricultural sector, Epilachna varivestis is often found in peanuts, soybeans, corn, rice and various vegetable plants, this beetle eats plant leaves which will then get small holes in the leaves and of course this will damage the plant's photosynthetic tissue which will automatically reduce the results harvest.

Adult insects from Epilachna varivestis lay eggs on the underside of leaves, these eggs will hatch into larvae which are also very greedy, actually the larvae of this beetle have a larger shape and resemble worms with a greenish color, these larvae eat more intensively in plant leaves, the presence of larvae In large quantities it can cause serious damage to plants in just a short period of time, after becoming imago or adult beetles these beetles will spread to various other plants.
