a unique insect that I found among dry durian leaves
Good night everyone ☕ 🦋
On this occasion I would like to show several photos of a very unique species of insect, I found this insect crawling among the dry durian leaves. When I was in one of the lush durian trees in the family garden, I accidentally saw a small movement among them scattered dry leaves, I stopped for a moment because I was worried if it was a snake, after waiting for a while and continuing to pay attention to the movement and finally this very unique insect appeared.
This insect is similar to a millipede, both physically and in behavior, when it appeared on a dry leaf I tried to touch it with a small twig because I was very sure that this insect had similarities to a millipede which would roll its body when touched, and it turns out I was right after I touched him he didn't even move at all and it was as if he was dead, this is a unique behavior that insects have, yeah finally I had the chance to observe them more closely.
The first thing that caught my attention was their legs which were neatly arranged and parallel, this showed similarities to the millipede species.
I noticed these legs work very well helping them move quickly through the leaves, their legs also look very long and slender and have a structure that allows them to grip.
The body of this insect has many circular segments arranged regularly, if you look at it at a glance, there are around 40-50 segments throughout their body, each segment in the insect's body functions to support flexible movement.
This insect has a blackish brown body color with a darker spotting pattern, I guess this dark pattern functions very well as a natural camouflage tool for the insect among the leaves from being targeted by predator hunters, apart from that the dark color is also able to absorb heat from the sun's rays cool environment.
after a while of observing and taking some pictures for me to study at home about the name of this species, yes that was the minimum I could do in the limited time, and luckily I finally found it on Wikipedia, but I will learn more about this insect because he very unique and this is the first time I have found them in the garden.
following temporary detection results and I found them on Wikipedia, I will look for some other sources for further research.

That's NOT an insect. Insects are always having six legs only.
There is a reason why I pinned this post in my insect community ... The reason is that you should read it and learn from it ...
Your photos show a species of the order Polydesmida.
Thanks very much, i Will learn about that ☺️
You are welcome! :)
