Are scientists doing too much?

Science and technology have always been the bedrock of civilization and are what have gotten us to where we are today. Over the years, we have seen remarkable innovations from smartphones and the Internet to self-driving cars but there are certain things that are being developed or researched right now that will make you wonder; "are we going too far? I have 2 of those things to talk about and we will start small and then progress to the insane one.

Artificial intelligence (AI) robots

AI has been making waves for some years now since 2022 (if I'm not mistaken) when people got their hands on chatGPT but the funny thing is that AI has been in existence for years but just that the ones that do "magic" like chatGPT wasn't fully accessible to the public or had very specific uses. But today, we have all sorts of AI tools all over the place and the one that shocked me recently was when I saw the AI robot that is being developed by OpenAI, the same people that made chatGPT. Just watch the video below

So, it's no longer enough that we have AI doing all sorts of crazy things on the internet, but they are now giving it a body? From that video, doesn't it look like that AI can already think on its own and make decisions? Now here's the insane part; they are currently working on something called Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) which is just an AI with human-like intelligence and self-awareness, in other words, these guys are playing god.

So, imagine that AI robot that looks like it can already think on its own getting equipped with AGI and then mass-produced, wouldn't that lead to a robot uprising later in the future? If you're familiar with Marvel movies and have watched Avengers, you should know Ultron which is also an AI robot created by Ironman and then tried to take over the world. I can see that happening in this world in a couple of years when we have AI robots all over the place.

A pill to conquer death

No, that wasn't a metaphor or a motivational quote, I'm actually serious; scientists are currently working on conquering death! I saw the research article over 8 years ago and when I read it, I realized that they can actually pull it off! I mean, they identified the process that causes aging and are now working on reversing that process. An article I saw last year predicted that the first anti-aging pills would be available in 2028. You can read more about it here

Several companies are working on this right now and Jeff Bezos invested over $3 billion in one of them. Sam Altman (chatGPT boss) also invested in one of such companies as well as several other billionaires. I mean, why won't they invest? The thought of having to live forever and continue enjoying their wealth is a dream come true but then again, trying to defeat death is an insane innovation! Death is what gives life meaning and God designed it that way, so why try to change the rules?

Let's not even talk about the implications it will have on the world's population, imagine what the world will be like if nobody grows old and dies. They will probably restrict such pills to the rich and powerful or make them very expensive so that the common man can't afford them. But let me even ask, would you take such a pill if you had the opportunity? I wonder if the pill effects can be removed later on when the person decides they are tired of life and want to grow old and die. But all the same, I believe scientists are going too far in their quest to defeat death.

An area that needs science

Now let's talk about the area that needs more science but isn't felt much and for me it's global warming. The major cause of global warming is the increase in greenhouse gases which comes from the burning of fossil fuels and one thing comes to mind when you think about this; fuel-powered engines (cars, motorcycles, generators, and so on). These things release dangerous gases into the atmosphere, thus leading to global warming. So, scientists can't work on a solution that converts these gases into harmless ones (within the engine) before releasing them into the atmosphere? Of course not, they rather challenge God by trying to defeat death.

We can never say that technologies are doing more harm because we are enjoying them and it is helpful in our day-to-day activities, we can never underestimate the power of technology.

There are some technology that are doing more harm than good and a typical example is guns. The way I'm seeing the anti-aging pills, it will end up having a lot of negative side effects. Thanks for stopping by

I watched that YouTube video you attached to the post and I am so fascinated! You are so right that they are trying to play God and that anti-aging pills project is very insane. If anything, I am just super curious about its effectiveness and the possible adverse effects. With all these you have said, my answer to your topic is actually that they are doing to much, just in the name of new inventions🥲

There will certainly be some adverse effects and for now, we don't know how effective it will be until it has been released and people start using it. Maybe in 15 to 20 years from now we will have the answers to these questions, that's if they still release the pills in 5 years

Yes, yes, the god thing. While you criticize that some scientists impose their supposed agendas on society, other people impose religious beliefs instead.

Haha, you're totally right. I myself ain't that much of a religious person but I believe certain lines shouldn't be crossed in science. Thanks for stopping by
