Tesla Will Soon Introduce A New Battery For Electric Cars

Tesla plans to soon introduce a new million-mile battery with supposedly extraordinary charge. And Reuters claims that it will drastically reduce the cost of electric cars.

From all the available information we know about the batteries, it seems that they are a result of cooperation between Tesla and academic experts hired by Elon Musk. The battery should first appear in Tesla's luxury sedan Model 3 that is going to be built and sold in China at the end of this year or the start of next year.

The battery will use technologies with a low and/or no amount of cobalt inside. Cobalt is the most expensive metal currently used to make batteries for electric vehicles. The battery will also use some new innovative chemical additives, materials, and coatings. And as its name suggests, it should last a million miles (1.6 million kilometers) because of the reduction of inner voltage.

The prices should be further pushed down thanks to a highly automated manufacturing process. And to top, it all of Tesla plans to open their Terafactories which should be even bigger than the current Gigafactories.

Musk has recently said that Tesla will hold a “Battery Day” at the end of this month. Hopefully, we will get more information during that press conference.
