The innovation of phones: Were you there?
Can we ever have an end whenever we talk about the inventions and innovations we have in this world? No, we can't, because the wonders are too many and can't be exaggerated enough.
I was born in the days when phones were not a common thing, and the phones I grew up to meet then were the calculator-like phones (sorry, I don't know the name), Java, Symbian, and the most common as of then, “China phones.” These phones—I mean the ones I had access to back then—were just the common phones with the sole aim of making calls and, for some, gaming, for those parents that didn't hide their phones from their children. It was the China phones that came with a good ‘swag’ of multimedia.
I started using a phone from the China phone era, and back then, that phone was a treasurable thing to me. The battery drained quickly, and as such, my siblings didn’t dare to press it, because if a bar of battery reduced in their hands, that reduced bar would attract many beatings.
The China phone was just to browse the Waptrick website, download songs, celebrity photos, and 3gp short videos. These were the basic uses of it for me.
But now, look at the type of phones we have: The innovation of phones is one of the greatest innovations for me because I saw how it was in the early days compared to what we have currently.
Back then, the batteries of phones were removable and charged separately with a particular charger we knew as a “desktop charger,” and sometimes, if it refused to charge, we would fold a twenty naira note, spark it a little from the battery spot, and a full battery would emerge. Abracadabra!😅
But the phones we have now have inbuilt batteries, meaning one does not need to be bothered about the battery of the phone being stolen from where it's charging.
Did you get that?
Back then, when we took our phones to charge in a neighbour’s house, some “sharp guys” would steal the battery of the phone, and whenever they were filled with mercy, they'd swap the battery and leave a fake battery in the phone.
The phones we have now are smart and are part of our lives. Almost everything concerning us is there, especially the financial things such as banking and transactions.
Let me stop here before I fully find myself away from the prompt request.
Thanks for reading.
I remember those phones with removable batteries. I lost many batteries when going to charge my phone in someone's place.
The way phones evolved ehn, we need to salut it o😁
Those days were crazy when we think of them now😅
We knew original battery from a glance and we traded anything just to get an original battery 😅
Abi oooo
That era when owning phones was only for the rich people that can afford it, everyday we should be grateful to technological advancements for all that we have at our disposal today.
Yes oooh!
These days, even a child of 10years has a smart phone
New invention keeps surfacing daily, new features in phones, making it more enjoyable.
Lol, brought back memories! 😄
From Waptrick, sefan.ru downloads to desktop chargers.
It’s wild how phones went from battery-swapping gadgets to smart life companions. Loved the nostalgia.
Seriously the invention of phones too have good and great impact it reduces some expenses of communication I could remember before if you want to pass a message to village you have to travel but the invention of phone has reduced the cost of buying only 100 naira to make call and pass the information
I remember how we seperate phone batterys with a lot of things, i once even used it to make school experiments on Light
Hmmmm I remembered the kind of phone I first used. It was a sagem phone then later migrated to Motorola. At least it really aided communication.
From swapping batteries and hiding devices from siblings to now using our phones for banking, work, school, and even health..... it’s like we carry a whole universe in our pockets now
