Smart Era
There's no debate about it—the advancement of technology in this era has greatly improved people's knowledge compared to how it was in the early days. A typical example is how most of us struggled to understand reading and writing back then. In those days, we were practically taught in school with too much discipline and punishment, just to grasp knowledge. But now, children as young as five years old can confidently type and read on phones.
Well, for people who were born into families that had the "English" thing running in their homes, especially the wealthy ones, they may not relate to the experience we had while growing up in village schools.
Currently, I have a niece and nephews at home, children between five and seven years old, who are already used to phones and even enjoy watching movies in different languages with subtitles. Oh my God! Back in our days, we frowned at movies that were not in English, not to mention racking our brains over subtitles.
The world we are in today is a technology-driven world, and everything is practically rated by it. Technology has modified a lot, including how we see things. Although our fathers were knowledgeable during their time, this era has made us surpass them, especially in how they went about seeking knowledge. With what we have at our disposal now, one only needs to click a button and spend a little time to learn or understand something—compared to how long it took our fathers to acquire knowledge.
Back then, for one to have a good understanding of computers, they had to undergo many years or months of training. But now, one can just grab a computer, watch some clips on YouTube, and that settles it. Although some people still choose to attend computer lessons, I believe it is simply their preference because, as it stands, almost anything can be learned online without issues. Like I always jokingly say, even medical procedures, such as surgeries, can be learned online—yeah, through online classes and practical videos.
Still talking about computer operations, my little niece and nephews at home operate the computer system with ease, although they are still limited in their knowledge. They have achieved this without attending any computer school; they simply picked up the idea based on how they use their phones, and that settled it.
Oh yes, we are smarter than our parents!
Thanks to modern technology, which has made life easier for us, we appear smarter than our parents—even the ones who were considered very learned in their time. Now, most of them depend on us to get things done, especially when it comes to technology.
Sometime last year, my dad had issues changing his name on his bank account. He thought it was impossible to do. For me, it was something I had never done before, but I just knew it was possible—either by going to the bank or doing it on the app. I quickly made an inquiry online and got the information on how to go about it with ease.
Life can be very funny, and in time to come, most of us who are currently boasting of being knowledgeable about everything will be outsmarted by future generations due to how advanced technology will become.
Thanks for reading!
We live in a smarter but more dangerous era than our fathers. As knowledge increases so the insecurities.
Advancement in technology has greatly affected our time in all spheres but it has made us to be world apart.
These advancements will continue no doubt and man will continue to have more problems too. The problems will arise from everything we engage in.
Yeahh, that's very true.
The advancement has its loaded disadvantages too. The problems we are facing now are just a tip of iceberg to what it coming if the world continues like this
Easy access to knowledge has made life easy, but it comes with a lot of distractions. For example, when searching for any diseases or health issues, people get easily taken away by so much information and sometimes fall for the wrong one.
Knowing how to use the knowledge is also important. Good write-up.
Hahaha!🤣
I can relate to this very well.
The internet is loaded with many stuffs which make searches very tiring too.

Our fathers were knowledgeable in their time and they were blessed too and in our time we are blessed too through the technological innovations. Thank you for sharing with us.
Yeah, it's a double edged thing. They were good with what was present to them in their days. For us, we are not lagging behind too.

Technology has made things easier for us that we can learn anything anywhere and at our own time. It's all a matter of applying what you've learnt which then makes you smarter and intelligent.
Yeah, that's the point of wisdom—putting the knowledge to work✌️
