Life with technology

Talking about technology, it sometimes looks like the disadvantages of it are measured equally with the advantages, as technology is rapidly taking over—or has already taken over—the world. But I think it has helped life more than the complications it has brought to our lives.

I was a child during the days when banks and their operations were totally manual, even though technology was used to a good extent. There was barely anything like mobile banking apps; all the people knew was to go to the bank every now and then whenever they wanted to make transactions. Unfortunately for us in my home village, we had no bank, so if anyone wanted to use the bank, they would need to pay transport fare to travel to the nearest community that had a bank, which was the headquarters of the local government area. They would spend a good amount of money transporting themselves to the bank and then get queued up there before making their transactions. I hated that hardship to the core. I hate to be in a queue, especially in banks, to get transactions done or to rectify an issue.

But now, technology has made banking very easy. One can stay for many years, carrying out constant transactions seamlessly without visiting the bank. Just with the use of mobile banking apps, everything about banking and transactions can be done in the comfort of one’s home.

Life

Sometimes, I just think that the advancement of technology in our banking system was made just for me because I can’t remember the last time I visited the banking hall to make transactions or do anything at all for personal use. Even to open a bank account these days, one doesn’t need to go to the bank; everything can be done online completely. Even signatures can be scanned or easily snapped with a camera and used for account registration. I so much love this era of technology we are in now.

I decided to settle on technology in banking because that’s what came to my mind as soon as I saw the prompt.

Also, we can’t easily push away the bad side of technology and how it has affected life negatively. We can’t overemphasize how the advancement of technology has ruined lives and relationships. It’s very rare these days to see the kind of life we had back then when families would sit, talk, and laugh out loud without their minds focusing on their phones, which now seem to be the first place their attention belongs, because everything except our breath is now input into our phones.
