Artificial Intelligence (AI) is good, but…

MetaAi Image

Each time I think about AI and how humans have been using it, I always imagine myself as a lecturer receiving assignments submitted by students, which were done with the help of AI. That imagination always drives me crazy. If I ever find myself in that position, all the students involved would get marks deducted, especially those who submitted their work without remembering to remove the iconic AI notification lines at the top and end, such as “Here are the answers I was able to generate” and “If you want further explanation, let me know so I can break it down for you.”

The above illustration is just to show how people are abusing the usefulness of AI in our world today. No lies, the introduction of Artificial Intelligence has been very useful in solving problems, making work easier, and boosting productivity.

Using myself as an example, I make use of AI a lot—not to write my articles, but for other things such as finding the right words, or asking for clarity, especially on confusing topics. I no longer rack my brain the way I used to on certain things. So, it’s a tool—a beautiful one at that. But on the other end, where people tend to abuse it, it becomes a threat. How do I mean?

Taking the example I cited in the first paragraph, a lot of students no longer feel the need to conduct research to arrive at an answer, which, in the process, would have impacted knowledge on them. These days, students just ask, copy everything, and paste it as their answer without reading through. That’s where most of them make the mistake of not removing the AI remarks at the beginning or end of the work.

The talk about AI completely taking over human jobs and reducing the need to employ people in the future makes me laugh a lot. No doubt, when utilized effectively, AI is a good thing, but there are bad sides to it that are surely going to be a thorn in human flesh if it continues like this without proper control.

Take a look, for example—am I the only one who feels irritated when a robot answers me while I’m contacting a company to lay a complaint and expecting to get my issue resolved? I dislike that experience a lot, yet that’s the direction most companies are going. It sucks!

Thanks for reading.

Ai is good but not the best as it makes people lazy. Thanks for sharing.

Really enjoyed your perspective especially the part about students blindly copying AI responses without understanding the material. AI is an amazing tool, but like any tool, its value depends on how we use it

Yes. Many students will not want to go through the processes anymore, and that is true, it is the stages that impacts the knowledge. But with Ai, they will get answers, they can’t proved it if asked.
