Web 3.0 untapped opportunities - why it is difficult for most people to fully embrace.

Having been on the Hive blockchain for a while now, I think I can say I have some idea of what Web 3 is.
Before now, I knew nothing about Web 3 (I was a total novice) which places me in a better position to air my views on why many people are yet to tap in to its numerous benefits and promising future, despite the obvious transformation it came with.

From what it is called, one would be right to guess the existence of a first (Web 1) and a second web (Web 2) type.

With Web 1, content was made available to customers and users from institutions and businesses with no effect from the users end. Users could not share contents on the web. It was a one street thing.

The invention of Web 2 took things a step further by allowing users to upload and share contents on the web.

With the invention of Web 3, online applications and website can receive information on the world wide web and give new data to users. It ushered in web interaction on a better note. This improvement is really mind blowing if you ask me.

Benefiting features of Web 3

Some of the features of Web 3 that makes it beneficial are shortly stated below:

It is Decentralized

Web 3 captures the idea of the internet being decentralized, meaning connectivity is purely based on a peer-to-peer networking.

It is Ubiquitous

What "Ubiquitous" means here is that the internet is made to be accessible from anywhere in the world. Web 3 is not made for a few alone: it provides equality. This also makes it unlimited.

It is hyper-intelligent

Web 3 depends on artificial intelligence to develop computers that understand user requests and provide answers to complex questions quickly. It's idea is centered on developing the metaverse.

It has a connection with semantic web

Web 3 goes beyond understanding the meaning of language based on keywords by generating, connecting and sharing content through search results and digital analysis. Web 3 is not the same as the semantic web, but both are very connected.

Set backs that hinder people from adopting Web 3.

Even with the numerous benefits and advancements of Web 3, many are yet to adopt it. Truth is, most individuals are yet to understand what the concept of Web 3 really is. Some already know what it is but they still are very limited in their adoption of it.
Some of the setbacks include, but are not limited to:

Ignorance of opportunities that abound in Web 3.

Even with the increasing awareness of Web 3, a majority of people are yet to understand fully what it really is. I've come across many young people who show gross ignorance of what Web 3 is (was once there). A majority of them only know the concept by name. This, I can attribute to limited awareness.

Skepticism

Because Web 3 technology is so new and unproven, many people are still skeptical about it. The public's suspicion has also been increased by a large number of rogue actors, exchange failures, and cross-chain bridge hacks. Most people find it difficult to trust the procedures of Web 3. Some would rather go with the centralized platforms than invest in the so-called decentralized technology clouded with a lot of uncertainties. Lack of trust is the major challenge here.

Poor accessibility

Restricted access is another barrier to the adoption of blockchain technology. For certain users, particularly in underdeveloped nations where access to the internet and technology is constrained, Web 3 may be a hurdle because it requires a consistent internet connection and access to specific devices (such as miners).

Complexity in usage

Usability is another issue that Web 3 must address. Because they are still in the early stages of development, many Web 3 applications can be challenging for non-technical people to utilize and navigate. Most People who are used to Web 2 find it difficult operating Web 3 due to its poor user interface. People are easily put off at the first sight of the Web 3 interface.

Insecurity

Due to the high prevalence of cyber crimes, many people would choose to play safe by totally avoiding being a victim. A majority of people cannot take the risk of putting their assets in to Web 3 especially when there is daily reports of people getting scammed. To make mattee worse most transactions cannot be traced to a particular server.
