I Built A Solar-powered Egg Incubator At Home! 😁
Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!
So I've been working on a side project this week! I and some friends built this solar powered egg incubating machine with a capacity of 50 small eggs.
It also comes with temperature and humidity control. Although the eggs have to be turned manually, though.
I'm too poor to afford to build the turning machinery. 🥲
The frame of the incubator was built out of opaque acrylic resin.
We decided to use transparent acrylic panels to do the internal fittings.
The finished body.
As a power source, we used twelve 18650 lithium ion battery cells all connected in series and parallel with a rated capacity of about 36Whr.
The batteries are double-sided. The battery management system is connected to the battery setup directly.
Schematic diagram of the electronic setup of the incubator.
We used a DHT22 liquid crystal electronic display and an ESP32 microcontroller to control all the necessary hardware.
The finished incubator with its 18W solar panel.
And now, time to check if the setup works!
Looks fine to me. 😁
Yes, a single 10W bulb was used as a heat source.
The display shows the current status of the system. All as expected.

This shot shows the cooling fan and the water tray for humidity control.
Of course, we decided to test our creation in the real world. And guess what!
We successfully hatched these birds!
Cute, aren't they?
Believe it or not, chickens are my favourite pet. 😅
I'd say our endeavour was a success, don't you think? Give me a comment to tell me what you all think. 🙃
