A serious disease is scrapie caused by prions.
There are various diseases in our society. They are usually caused by viruses or bacteria. But there are some diseases that are caused by organisms much smaller than viruses. One of them is diseases caused by prions. First we need to know about prion and how it was discovered. I hope you all like it.
I am a student of plant science. So I know about it. I hope you will like it. Prion is a very small microscopic infectious entity and it is capable of causing various infectious diseases in humans, cattle, sheep, mice, etc. Although prions have been present since ancient times, their discovery came in the second half of the 20th century.
During a trip to Papua New Guinea in 1957, a microbiologist named Carr Layton learned from a local doctor that many people of an indigenous community had died of a mysterious and complex disease in the remote areas of that country. In most cases, women and children were the victims of this disease. All patients are certain to die after orphan upper extremity tremors and tremors gradually lead to physical weakness and brain malformation.
So it is said that this disease is a terrible disease. Although nowadays this disease is not seen much anymore. The government has developed resistance to this disease in various ways. In that society, the disease was originally named Gurrak. While conducting research on patients suffering from this disease, Carleton heard a strange story. Religious customs of the society. Kuru disease is caused by eating the flesh of the body of an ancestor during social rituals and religious ceremonies. No signs of central nervous system infection, no viral toxins or any chemical abnormalities could be observed in this patient.
Then in 1997, William Hadlow Jainik, a veterinarian, researched a type of nervous disease called scurvy in sheep and goats. He observed significant abnormalities in the body of sheep and goats with scurvy and humans with scurvy. This disease known for about 200 years is called scurvy. For a particular reason, the animals affected by scabies would rub their body against a solid wall or any such structure and their movement would be incoordinated, causing local fur to rise.
The name of this disease basically means smoothing. The disease became known as scurvy because the fur on the body of the affected animal was removed and the body became smooth. Then in 1966, two scientists made a suspension of the brain cells of Kuru patients and injected them into the brains of chimpanzees. Between 18 and 21 months, chimpanzees develop symptoms of kuru and die. This is how the infectiousness of the germs of Kunu disease is proven.
In Papua New Guinea primitive societies are prohibited by law. The incidence of the disease has decreased. It is now basically a favorite national disease.
So this was some of my writing about prions and diseases caused by prions. Thanks everyone for reading my post. Hope you all like it. Everyone will comment. Apologies if there are any mistakes.
