The chandelier on Hradčanské náměstí

During our evening walk, we came across this beautiful lamp that we found on Hradčanské náměstí in front of Prague Castle. It caught our attention not only with its unusual appearance but also with the strange sound it was making. Therefore, we decided to find out more about it.
Při naší večerní procházce jsme narazili na tuto zvláštní lampum kterou jsme našli na Hradčanském náměstí před Pražským hradem. Zaujala nás nejen svým zvláštním vzhledem, ale i podivným zvukem, který vydávala. Proto jsme se rozhodli o ní něco zjistit.

This beautiful lamp is a technical monument that was made in the 19th century. The chandelier has eight arms and is 8.5 meters tall. It's made of cast iron. It has a diameter of 4 meters and weighs an incredible 5 tons.
Tato krásná lampa je technickou památkou, která byla vyrobena již v 19. století. Kandelábr má osm ramen a je vysoký 8,5 metru. Je vyroben z litiny. V průměru má 4 metry a váží neuvěřitelných 5 tun.

The first gas lamps were lit in the streets of Prague in 1847, but they were later replaced by electric lamps. In 1985 that gas lighting was fully replaced by electricity. The original gas lamp posts were later converted to electric lighting, but it's interesting that in 2005 and 2006 they were reconstructed and converted back to gas lighting.
První plynové lampy se v pražských ulicích rozsvítili již v roce 1847. Ale později je začali nahrazovat lampy elektrické. V roce 1985 bylo plynové osvětlení plně nahrazeno elektrickým. Kandelábr byl tedy původně plynový, ale později byl předělán na elektrické osvícení. Je však zajímavé, že v letech 2005 a 2006 byl rekonstruován a opět byl předělán na plyn.

Out of the original 16, there are now only 3 lamps left in Prague.Others lamp you can find near Loretánská street or at Dražické náměstí. So hopefully we will soon go there.
Z původních 16 se v Praze nachází už jen 3 kousky. Mimo tohoto je možné ještě kandelábr najít v blízkosti Loretánské ulice anebo na Dražickém náměstí. Tak se tam snad brzy vydáme.
