Technology: A Blessing We Can No Longer Ignore

There was a time I was having a conversation with my friends, and we were simply reflecting on how life used to be in the past when technology was not really advanced and the internet was not even present. Honestly, the more we talked about it, the more difficult it was to imagine how people actually survived during that period because life was completely different from what we are used to now. I mean, they had to write letters just to pass messages to someone, probably living in the next town or even another state, and then wait for days or even weeks before getting a reply. If you compare that to now, then it really shows how much things have changed.
However, one thing we all agreed on during that conversation was the fact that people in those days probably had more time to bond properly with one another because there were no phones, no social media, and no gadgets constantly taking people’s attention away. People were more present with each other because there was really nothing to distract them from the real world. Families had more real conversations, friends spent quality time together, and people generally paid more attention to what was happening around them.
To be honest, a part of me still feels that social media and many of the things technology has brought into our lives have really affected the way we now live. Sometimes, it even feels like our lives have been programmed to behave in a certain type of way. The way people think, the way they react to situations, and even the way they want to live their lives is often influenced by what they constantly see online.
Sometimes, you just notice that people are no longer fully living in the moment because their attention is always divided between real life and what is happening on their phones.
But notwithstanding, I still believe technology has been of great help to us in many ways. For instance, before I came home for Easter some weeks ago, I had a project to complete, and I made use of AI while working on it. That was actually what made it easier and faster for me to finish because I was able to get help quickly and organize my work better. If that kind of support was not available, there is a big chance it would have taken me a much longer time to complete that particular project.
Now, the last question is, would I survive without technology? I would honestly say no because I have already become used to it in my everyday life. I literally press my phone almost all the time, although I am trying to reduce that by taking walks, spending more time outside, and even playing more with friends. But even with that effort, I know it is still difficult for me to stay without the internet or avoid visiting social media for long hours because it has already become part of daily living.

Before tech we had more family and friends bonding, now we have little or nothing at all.
