My First Encounter with a software virus and what it taught me.

I remember the first time I experienced a serious software virus on my phone—it was a frustrating and eye-opening experience. Back then, I was carefree about downloading things online. I would use Chrome to download movies, music, and even hacked games from random websites. I didn’t think much of it at the time because I felt like, as long as I was getting what I wanted, everything was fine. But then, my phone started acting strange.

It began with little things: apps that would crash unexpectedly, my phone freezing for no apparent reason, and even battery drainage that seemed unusually fast. At first, I thought maybe my phone was just getting old or overloaded with too many apps. But as the problems worsened, I started to suspect it was more than just normal wear and tear.

There was even one particular moment where I couldn’t even open some of my apps—they would literally just crash the moment I tapped on them. At that point, I knew something was seriously wrong. So, I started searching for solutions. I talked to some people and they suggested that these kinds of issues could probably be caused by a virus . That’s when i thought of the fact that my reckless habit of downloading from untrusted sources might have finally caught up with me.

So I then decided to take action by downloading th antivirus app. To be honest, I was unsure at first. I didn’t know how accurate these apps would actually solve my problem. But I was desperate to fix my phone, so I gave it a shot. After installing the Avg antivirus app, I ran a scan. To my surprise, it actually detected that there was a virus on my phone and infact the virus was linked to something i previously downloaded on chrome.

At that moment, I actually thought of wiping my phone completely. But since the antivirus app helped me identify the file, I just removed it completely from my phone because i didnt want to lose all my data. As soon as I removed it, my phone started working properly again. The apps stopped crashing, the freezing issues disappeared, and my phone felt like it was back to normal.

To be honest, that experience taught me an important lesson about being cautious with downloads. From that day onward, I made some serious changes to how I use my phone. I kept the antivirus app installed, and before I downloaded anything, I will just run a quick scan to ensure it’s safe. I also stopped downloading from untrusted websites and have started relying more on official app stores like the Google play.

Looking back, I’m grateful I was able to fix my phone without losing all my data. But more importantly, the whole experience made me more aware of how easily a virus can sneak into your device if you’re not careful and the problems it can cause. Now, I take cybersecurity seriously, and I have learned to prioritize safety over convenience. It is better to be cautious and prevent problems than to deal with the stress of fixing them later.
