The future has arrived as the 4th industrial revolution ushers in AI GPT for free

The recent rise of AI and GPT chatbots will inevitably increase the income gap, just as most major technological leaps forward tend to do. The smart few at the top will find their lives enhanced massively and their productivity will rise and costs shrink. Less labor and more speed will facilitate growth and a mushrooming of new skills, talents and sectors.

However, the poor and less educated will find minimal benefit at best from the new technological tools made available to the world. We saw the rise of the internet, and before that other innovations like the mobile phone, the television and the printing press way back centuries ago. Of course somewhere in the middle was the industrial conveyor belt perfected by Henry Ford to make his first automobiles.

So our recent AI innovations will be a mixed blessing, benefiting some and impoverishing others in their wake. Such is the nature of the great industrial turnings, of which this is the fourth. Add to this the invention of Web3 and blockchain technology, with cryptocurrency, and we will see the rich get richer. Some of us in the middle will fortunately also be able to pull ourselves up out of poverty by our bootstraps, the lucky or smart few. But the majority, as we have seen with crypto, will see it go right over their heads and they will be unable to grasp the concept enough to make it work for them.

I tried several times to share my insights and benefits from crypto with my acquaintances but hardly any of them were able to grab it and run with it as I did. And they are smart enough people. Yet they just can’t make the leap to the next level. It’s too innovative, just slightly too far for them to grasp, in my opinion. That’s why the global market cap for cryptocurrency is so small compared to mainstream finance.

A similar event will occur with AI today. Some of us will get it and run with it to the degree that it works for us and takes us to the next level of independence and financial comfort. Others will use it as a toy or a crutch, and they won’t get the best out of it. Like that line I love from the movie “Limitless” about the new wonder drug - It works well if you’re already smart.

Still AI will roll out and with it perhaps dangers of mass global surveillance by government and corporations who become even more rich in data collection with time and tech advances. We will enter the Brave New World, life will never be the same again and the world as we knew it will come to an end. The great reset will usher in Transhumanism and the bio-machine merge. There’s probably a better title for it.

Let’s see where this goes. Futurists are predicting lots of interesting things for us over the next decade. We will simply have to hold on tight for the ride, and stay updated so as not to get left behind. If you want to stop the world so that you can get off when it starts spinning too fast for you, then just get your set-up ready and head for the hills. You could probably do quite well with a satellite connection and a solar panel. I certainly do.

Indeed, good point there. Neuralink will make the current web interface look positively primitive.
