Good Hygienic Environment, My Number #1 Priority Of Escaping From Malaria Disease

One of the things I endeavor to do is sanitizing my compound, I mean the area in which I live. I don't wait for the weeds to engulf my surroundings before I take action. Neither do I wait for someone to tell me to weed my compound or tidy up the litters around. In as much as no one tells me that I'm hungry so go and eat, so as I need not to wait for someone to tell me my obligations or my rights. It's my duties to prevent mosquitoes bite which are the main cause of Malaria parasite known as plasmodium.

Many people think all the control measures are best. But why do we even wait to breed the the the vector Tsetsefly on our environment before we decide to control them? The best way is to seek for preventive measures than thinking of the control alternatives like the use of mosquitoes insecticide spray, mosquitoes coil.

Let's first think of what brings about the breeding of the Anopheles mosquitoes are the dangerous vectors that cause plasmodium parasites. The main cause of their breeding are from our dirty environments like, littering around, leaving compounds to become weedy, leaving empty cans, coconut endocarp split open on our environment, chocked gutters, stagnant waters. These are the basic environmental hazards that leads to the breeding of the Anopheles mosquitoes vectors on the environment.

Attempt to break their breeding cycle is an attempt to reduce their population on the environment.

In my community where I live, I rent two rooms having small porch. The place do not have cemented floor. There are places at the back and front of the house which normally grow weeds. There are always litters around. This area is probably moisture invasion area. As we are in the major raining season, the Anopheles mosquitoes vectors are constantly breeding around this area, laying their eggs in dirty and bushy places.

Since I have learnt a lot about how mosquitoes vectors breed, I used to clear the weeds as soon as the weeds begin to emerge. I make sure to remove all litters of leaves shed from trees and flowers around. The choked gutters are constantly distilled to avoid the Anopheles mosquitoes vectors from laying eggs. I also make sure to drain out all stagnant waters around my environment.

Even though there is a probably of some of the Anopheles mosquitoes vectors travelling from those neighborhood environments which are untidy, but the breeding of mosquitoes population at my house would be minimal. That's why it's advisable to add other control measures like spraying of the mosquitoes with the recommended chemicals.

Over here in Ghana, we don't have a developed system where helicopter could spray say every district in the Country, but in advance countries, this method is common. But I think within our confined area we can do this with knapsack sprayer machine if we have the chemical it just a matter of hiring a labourer who is expert in spraying.

The Genetic and biological method of controlling mosquitoes vectors have been effective but they aren't commonly done here in Ghana. In the case of biological control method, we would ask, how many communities have the pond stocked with fishes that would feed on the larvae to break the mosquitoes breeding cycle? Only few farms have fish ponds at vantage areas especially the swampy places or water log where they think fish breeding is productive. The probability of the mosquitoes locating these ponds is also limited.

Talking about the genetic method where the male mosquitoes are sterilized, they aren't common in the tropics here, especially Ghana where I have lived and bred. There is little knowledge about it. Just that theoretically, that science teachers have learnt and known to exist, but practically they don't know how to go about it. I don't really know if in advanced Countries the Genetic method is commonly done.

In all, the environmental and chemical methods of mosquitoes vectors control have gained ground, and they are highly to be effective here in Ghana. Preferably I always depend on the environmental way of controlling the mosquitoes life cycle. This is from the fact this method is environmentally friendly and cause less harm to some innocent species. But, the chemical methods are noted to cause harm to most insects species.

Very well said and a great post here. Most of the time the illness we suffer from is because of lack of good hygiene
