Technology and the loneliness of the human being

avatar

Hello community of Project Hope, I hope you are having a good weekend, I want to talk in this publication about something that came to me from a sentence, very reflexive by the way, and that I want to share before developing my publication, is the following:

"We refuse to turn off our computers, our phones and sit in silence, because in those moments we have to face what we really are. " Jefferson Bethke

Do you find it interesting? It particularly caught my attention and got me thinking about a few things.

It is a reality that technology is an important part of our lives, that it is difficult to find a person who does not have a cell phone, and that it is a necessary tool for their daily organization, just like a computer.

The truth is that many people the first thing they do when they wake up, before they even get out of bed, is check their cell phone or check their social networks as if it was a big deal, will they be more interested in seeing other people's lives on the networks than in taking care of their own? I just wonder.

I am not a regular user of social networks (instagram, facebook, tik tok, etc), if I have one of the first two I named, but I don't really use them. People largely use that to create a false vision of their life, at least that's how it is for me, that's how I see it. Although I recognize that the impact of networks from a social and economic point of view, and as a tool for dissemination is of great magnitude.

However, what I want to highlight from all this is that technology, the easy access to social networks through a cell phone and I can even mention television, to a large extent have produced a distance between human beings, but the biggest impact is that less and less people take their time to be with themselves, as if they were afraid of each other.

Reading a book (even if it is digital) is something that enriches you, makes you think and by doing this you are making contact with yourself, getting to know you, expanding your capacity to think, but I don't think that spending the day watching the photos and videos that are uploaded by acquaintances or strangers will leave you with something truly important and relevant.

Of course, I am referring to most of the junk content that can be seen on the networks, I know that there are those who spend time creating educational videos, with the full intention of being able to share knowledge with others in different areas, besides that there are those who base their businesses on the use of networks and marketing through, is not precisely what I mean, but, I think that today there is so much content that could keep you entertained that you do not often give yourself the time even to know you, and it does not have, as humans that we are a logic, not for me.

For me it is important to be alone at some point in the day, doing nothing apparently, thinking about things related to me, meeting with me.

This is a very personal vision, which you may agree with or not, everything is respectable.

I would like to know your opinion about it, you can leave it in the comments.

Greetings @josevas217 technology has taken over our lives, undoubtedly one of the most used equipment is the phone, is something that sometimes does not allow a harmonious family reunion as everyone draw their cell phones and we are embedded in a parallel world.

Now that I see your article, a moment ago I was talking to my wife and I told her that this pandemic has many aspects, something that has come out of my head since we started with the quarantine, is that the virus was intentionally inoculated and from there we can name many interests as an example to massively promote virtual life, today I saw the news that Amazon will start to send their drones and possibly many delivery people will be affected. I love technology but I would not like it to replace our own human habits without intermediaries.

Sorry for the length, but I wanted to express my thoughts, suddenly later on he shares them in an article.

Greetings friend, have a great Sunday! 👍

Hello @amestyj
Don't worry about the length of the message, it's good for me to be able to generate this kind of commitment from the comments.
In relation to what you say, yes, in fact, the virtual has been taking over more and more of our lives, and only a few have really benefited from it. In the end it is up to us to learn how to take advantage of the virtual, because whether we like it or not, it is a reality.
Thanks for your great comment

Interesting reflection friend @josevas217, and I think very tight, we live in a world where we spend much time entertaining the lives of others, even when that life we see is almost always a montage to upload it to the networks, the accounts with educational material have less traffic than those of some influence that really leaves nothing positive. If we used those minutes watching the phone before getting out of bed to exercise we would do something more useful for us.

With books, you can learn from the most talented and most successful people of the world. Some books contain the knowledge accumulated in a whole life. Many successful people read a lot. (For example, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates.)
These times, many people don't even have patience to read a middle-sized blog post like yours.
New way of evolution? People who can select the useful information to consume, succeed. People who can't, fail.

Hi @deathcross
This leads me to think that without a doubt we must be clear about what we are looking for as a life goal, in order to be able to choose what we will spend our time reading.
If we do not know how to filter content and determine that it is not really necessary, we will simply not advance, or as you say, we will fail.

Hello friend @josevas217

Very good reflection, particularly me if I use those 2 social networks you mentioned at first, and certainly sometimes I waste time watching things that perhaps do not generate any knowledge or personal growth, but I imagine that by wanting to entertain the mind one does, I do not think it is wrong to devote a little time to that as long as you do not neglect the rest, obviously everything in excess is bad, but I do not think in my case is something excessive hehe.

But yes, I also think that all this has distanced us a little from our loved ones and from reality, from the social, from wanting to do other things and of course from learning more.

Yes, everything in excess is harmful, I totally agree, because time is lost that could be used in more productive things, however, distraction is necessary from time to time.

we need our personal space daily, to meditate, focus and listen make the right decisions.Personally, I usually set aside several hours a week for myself, away from technology, and that has helped a lot to overcome many things We must understand technology as a tool and n create a dependency on it that can bring us health problems

You are right, dedicating time to oneself is as important as sharing with one's family, for those who are close to them. A break from technology is necessary. Very necessary from time to time.

Greetings friend @josevas217. I find your article very interesting since you are reflecting many truths among those is that we often waste time doing things or observing that we will not be nourished with any knowledge is just going to waste time, and the second we must be sure of what we want and then draw a line to continue to draw a goal and be persistent until you reach it. Thank you for sharing with us such important information, very educational and very good recommendations. Greetings

Knowing where we are going, being clear about it, is necessary to give priority to what you have and not waste time on other things.

Thanks for commenting.
