Why are we going to the Moon now?

On the Moon, apart from having 34 million square km, it is the next continent to explore and exploit economically, there are missions for political reasons or for propaganda or for scientific reasons, that is fine, but in the end all of this is currently being paid for by public money, both in China and in the United States, as in the European Space Agency, everything is being paid for with public money.

Someday all this will also mean economic wealth, economic and business benefits, and that will be what gears what will be the true race and the true colonization of the solar system. And what can be found on the Moon? Well, resources like oxygen, there is a lot of oxygen, 43% of the mass of the lunar soil is made up of oxygen, it has silicon, it has helium 3.

Helium 3 is an element that does not exist on Earth, helium 3 is expelled generously by the sun, but it turns out that since the Earth has a protective magnetic field, the solar wind cannot penetrate it and therefore cannot leave its rain of helium 3 and helium 3 is a useful element, not the only one, but very useful to achieve nuclear fusion, a small amount of helium 3 would allow you to power an entire city when nuclear fusion develops, it is not the only element in the recipe to achieve fusion nuclear, but it is a valuable element.

We also have iron, titanium, aluminum on the Moon, apparently, aluminum is very abundant in the high areas, we have many rare earths, the rare earth thing is not because it is earth, there are 17 chemical elements of the periodic table that are found on Earth, the problem is that it is not that they are scarce, it is that it is difficult to find them in a pure form, that is complicated and that is what makes them rare. It is rare to find them in pure form, hence the rare thing.

But the Moon apparently contains a great variety of these elements and with sufficient purity, which is very important for the development of the current technological industry. There are also other elements such as magnesium, calcium, chromium, and the Chinese even discovered a new phosphate mineral, changuesite.

So, there is a very important variety for space mining, but going to the Moon and bringing back any mineral, even if it is gold ingots, because there will also be gold deposits, in principle there should be the same amount as there is on Earth, in proportion to the surface, there is no reason why gold, platinum and these elements should not also exist.

What would those elements be for? to manufacture substances, medicines, elements that can be manufactured only and exclusively or that can practically only be obtained with a high degree of purity in space and that are very expensive on Earth and also elements of technology and of course in the future to build one's own spaceships with materials from the Moon because the problem is that taking anything from the Earth is extremely expensive.

If you build the spaceship on the moon, you save a lot of resources and getting materials from the moon is very easy. In fact, one of the projects that exists to get materials from the Moon cheaply is the space elevator, which on Earth is not possible because we have an atmosphere and it would end up disintegrated by the heat generated by friction with the atmosphere, but on the Moon there is no atmosphere and on top of that the gravity is lower, so that elevator would be shorter and would not have those problems.
