Very rare extinct animal discovered.

Souce

They manage to capture an animal that was believed to be extinct, it is Attenborough's long-beaked echidna, its name of course is due to its discoverer; These images were captured by a camera trap, and they were very lucky because they achieved it on the last day of the expedition that biologists from the University of Oxford were carrying out together with Indonesian researchers.

It is considered a very rare animal because first it was considered extinct, and due to this evidence very few must exist, second because it lives in one of the wildest regions on the planet, that is lucky for the echidna and third because it is an animal that only comes out at night to hunt insects.

This echidna weighs 1 to 3 kg and has short, dense hair that covers the spines on its back and although it is a mammal that lays eggs, echidnas, of which there are only four species, are, along with platypuses, the only mammals that retain laying. Eggs, preserving them is because mammals evolved from a primitive reptile that was our common ancestor.

Echidna and platypus form the order of monotremes that separated from the rest of the mammals approximately 100 million years ago at the height of the dinosaur era and lived and evolved in the isolation of Australia and Indonesia, this makes them extremely rare mammals. For example, the female echidna lays a single egg, incubates it for 10 days. It is a mammal, so the baby has to feed on the mother's milk, but the mother does not have nipples, which makes The young is sucking from the pores of two mammary glands of its mother.

Echidna males also have their oddities, for example, their penis is tetracapitate, that is, it has four heads, although they only use two during mating, what would nature be “thinking” when it developed that evolution.
