The experiment took place in Taikytown Japan on June 17, the Honda experimental rocket measures 6 meters long, 85 cm in diameter and weighs almost 900 kg. During the test the vehicle reached an altitude of 271 meters, the equivalent of a building with almost 90 floors, and then descended gently, landing just 37 cm from the programmed target, all this and a flight that lasted exactly 56 seconds.

The main objective is to test flight stability technologies, descent control and of course the precise landing capacity, elements that are essential for any reusable rocket. The great challenge when we talk about reusable rockets is precisely to ensure that the vehicle returns whole and lands accurately, saving millions of dollars from each launch.

Elon Musk's SpaceX made history with the Falcon 9 and now Honda is taking its first steps, timid but firm in that direction, the difference is that the test was carried out in a very compact area, which required very high precision control, a true high-performance engineering exercise, although it is still in the fundamental research phase, Honda has already made it very clear that the plan is to carry out suborbital flights by the year 2029, before that they will continue testing the stability and landing navigation systems.

The company has already created a space development division in the United States to accelerate this mission, the Japanese government is investing heavily to double the size of its space industry by the early 2030s, and Honda clearly wants to secure its space, or its place in space, if you prefer.
