The Euclid space telescope of the European space agency, which has been nicknamed the detective of the dark universe, was launched on July 1, 2023, towards the Lagrange 2 point, which is one and a half million kilometers from Earth, it arrived there without problems, but during the last few months the space observatory He was disoriented.

The problem was cosmic rays, particles charged with energy that the sun emits during periods of high solar activity. The cosmic rays impacted the orientation sensor, creating signals that Euclid incorrectly identified as stars and it turns out that, like the Sailors of yesteryear, Euclid needed to locate his guide stars in order to guide his exploration work.
