The birth of a system of planets is observed for the first time.

The following note has been described as an unprecedented discovery, because a team of astronomers has discovered a disk around a young massive star in the large Magellanic cloud, which is a dwarf galaxy neighboring ours 160,000 light years away.

This is the first time that a disk identical to those that originate around young stars, a disk that is where planets are born, has been found outside our galaxy. The discovery was achieved using the ALMA Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array observatory. , located in the north of Chile.

Stars arise from large clouds of gas that are compacted, a small part of the matter does not fall into the star in formation, but rather flattens out in a rotating disk around it, the closer it is to the center, the faster that spins. disk and this difference in speed is astronomical proof of the presence of an accretion disk, which is what this type of disk is called.

In these disks the matter is concentrated at first as specks of dust that join with other specks of dust, these join and create larger bodies the size of rocks that join with others creating small asteroids and from there protoplanets and then planets. authentic, however, we do not have to expect much from the planets that are born from this star because the star that is in the news is a massive star and the more massive a star is, the shorter its life expectancy, it may only last a few million of years before exploding as a supernova destroying its entire Planetary system.

In any case, and although we suspected it, this is confirmation that the processes that allow planets to be born also occur in other galaxies and have occurred in the past and will occur in the future throughout the universe.
