SpaceX confirmed the acquisition of xAI by formally uniting some of the billionaire and Elon Musk's most ambitious projects into a single structure: rockets, satellites and artificial intelligence. The logic behind the merger is as simple as it is disturbing, advanced models already demand colossal amounts of computing power, and computing power means industrial-scale electricity, constant cooling, and gigantic infrastructure.
Today almost all that load is concentrated in terrestrial data centers, but those centers are beginning to reach their ceilings, saturated electrical networks, skyrocketing energy costs, public resistance to the emergence of new complexes, according to experts and Musk, current advances in AI depend on data centers that consume too much energy to continue growing indefinitely on Earth.
The proposed solution, taking data centers into space, a few days before the announcement of the merger, SpaceX requested authorization to launch up to 1 million satellites, forming a constellation capable of supporting orbital data centers powered by solar energy, in other words, server farms floating above the planet without a physical limit of land, with direct access to the sun and without disputing energy with entire cities.
Elon Musk who stated that in two or three years the cheapest way to generate computing power for AI could be outside of Earth and this race does not happen in isolation. Nvidia's CEO has already warned that next-generation models may require up to 100 times more energy than current ones. Goldman Sachs estimates that electricity demand from data centers can grow 165% until 2030.
Companies like Microsoft and Meta already spend tens of billions of dollars per quarter just on expanding infrastructure, the practical result is beginning to be felt in the real world and in some regions electricity prices near Data Centers rose more than 200% in 5 years. In other words, artificial intelligence is not just changing software, it is putting pressure on the energy base of civilization.

Crazy thought yet clearly described. The solution to energy constraints is by moving AI data centers to orbit at the cost of introducing new threats. Liked the connection of Musk, Nvidia and prices of real world power. This truly reflects the way that AI is transforming civilization itself at a faster rate than it is viewed to be in the present day.
What AI offers to the world is gigantic; difficult tasks are performed by AI like child's play. Allocating huge electrical energy to AI isn't after all a bad idea; to whom much is expected, much is given
