Real searches for life outside the earth

There are space missions that aim precisely to search for signs of life beyond Earth and there are also large scientific projects dedicated to the search for extraterrestrial life, not only bacteria, I am talking about developed technological civilizations, one of those latest projects is the Galileo project. created in 2021 from the Harvard Astronomy Center for Astrophysics and whose director is the famous Avi Loeb, who has an extensive scientific resume and who became known to the public due to his theory about an Interstellar asteroid or oumuamua, which according to his hypothesis would be a fragment of extraterrestrial technology, but there are other hypotheses that explain the strange behavior of this object.

There is also the famous SETI project created on February 1, 1984, whose founder was the scientist Carl Sagan and popularizer of the Cosmos series, there is also Frank Drake who, among other things, devised the equation that bears his name and aims to calculate how many civilizations can exist in the galaxy, unfortunately we still lack a lot of data to be able to solve that equation, we can't even have an approximate number, although they have tried.

Perhaps there is some property in that vast mysterious universe that allows messages to be sent much more quickly, but SETI hopes to locate a fossil radio signal sent long ago and that contains irrefutable proof of the existence of at least one other technological civilization in the world. galaxy and in all these years they have located at least two signals that have been investigated in great detail.

Another less well-known signal, the SHGB02+14th signal, was discovered on March 3, 2003 and was observed three times. The origin of that radio signal is located between the constellations of Pisces and Aries in a direction in which there is no stars observable in 1000 light years, perhaps it comes from further away, it is a very weak signal and it would seem that it was emitted from a planet that is rotating very quickly to its star, it is a topic that is being investigated, it is also considered that it could be a failure in devices or cosmic noise, many details must be analyzed.

Because one of the problems with searching for radio signals from extraterrestrial civilizations is that these signals weaken with distance and end up merging in the soup of cosmic radiation, so don't expect to see extraterrestrial television series, at least with the technology we currently have. , to capture a clear signal it should be a powerful signal, a sent signal, as a beacon or as a warning at an enormous distance, such as the message they sent in 2018 from the deep space station of the European space agency in February in Ávila Spain.
