In the footsteps of the Curvature Engine or Alcubierre.

In the footsteps of the Curvature Engine or Alcubierre.

What is a warp drive? It is a propulsion idea that would allow a ship to travel faster than light and that arose in the fictional universe of Star Trek, yes it is science fiction, but good science fiction can give ideas and inspire scientists to create new things, in real science, the most famous engine of this type is that of Alcubierre, a Mexican scientist who published a study in 1994.

Basically it would consist of deforming the fabric of space-time around the ship creating a bubble or a wave, I like the term wave better because the ship is more similar to what it does, it is more like surfing on that wave. The most amazing thing is that the ship would not move at all, inside it time would pass normally and the crew members would not feel forces of inertia, they would not feel acceleration of any kind, because the ship would be still, what moves is space. time behind the ship and in front of it.

Behind the ship, space-time would be warped by extending it, while in front, the ship would contract space-time thus putting the destination point much closer, that is the idea, but achieving something like that is very far from our ability. current technology we should have exotic matter, incredible energies and things that we still do not know if they exist.

The study that is in the news now helps us get what we don't have, well no, the value of the study presents the situation the other way around, we are not sure because everything above could be wrong, maybe we are in error and it cannot be build a warp engine, but imagine that it can be built, imagine that it can be built in the distant future, with much superior technology, perhaps within a few centuries.

And now imagine what would happen if other, more advanced civilizations, more advanced extraterrestrial civilizations, had already built it, had built ships of this type, with a curvature engine; The question raised by this study is whether these ships would leave some type of trace on their travels through the galaxy in a similar way to airplanes that leave their trails and, above all, we could detect those traces.

This is what a paper that has yet to be peer-reviewed, by a team of researchers from a leading Campus including Oxford, UK and the Max Planck Institute in Germany, suggests that the collapse of a bubble of curvature of Alcubierre could generate gravitational waves that we would be able to detect using instruments such as the gravitational wave observatory, the fact that it is within the possible does not mean that it is easy, it would be necessary to identify what type of signal produces the collapse of a bubble of curvature, which is supposed to occur when the ship reaches its destination and the warping of the fabric of space-time has to be dissolved in some radical way.

Keep in mind that the bubble has altered space-time in front of and behind it, that has to leave some type of imprint, some type of wave, some type of distortion in the fabric of space-time, such as the trail it leaves. a motor boat.

In this case we would have technology to detect these traces, but we would first have to identify what type of trace this type of event leaves, because at the moment we can identify a collision of neutron stars or black holes, but this type of bubble event of curvature, we have not yet defined what type of imprint on the fabric of space-time, something will be left, which is what is interesting.

Keep up the good work. 👏🎵

Dear beloved Hive creator,

Coding poet Gudasol here to support you sharing your art + life on Hive.

As a fellow creator, I know how hard it is to get the word out there.

I built cXc.world to help creators like us get more support from the blockchain community + beyond.

Share your music on cXc.world, and copy the Markdown for a easy post includes embedded players for Spotify, Youtube, Soundcloud.

That way, you can earn HIVE + stack streams on centralized platforms, as they do still matter.

Not a music creator? No problem. You can still use cXc.world to find + share music you love.

What's next?

Preview the next evolution of cXc, Tetra.earth.

Expose local music from your area!

We're helping grassroots musicians, and you can too by adding their music (no sign up or WAX account required).

Bad news: Saying see you later to Hive! 👋

We didn't get the needed support to continue cXc.world on Hive, as our DHF proposal lacked votes, but [Good News Everyone] cXc.world will add a Markdown copy button, allowing you to easily share your music + music you find on Hive.

For now, we're on WAX, with tools you can use to mint your own Music/Media NFT collection.

Curious about the future of Earth + ET relations? New economic systems?
