For the first time they capture the collision of two Exoplanets.

They have captured for the first time the cosmic cataclysm of the collision of two ice giant exoplanets, the discovery was made by an international team of scientists coordinated by the British University of Bristol and the Dutch University of Leiden.

The system where this occurred is located in 1800 light years, the two worlds orbited a star similar to the sun, the researchers discovered this event because they managed to capture about 3 years before that the system had anomalously and irregularly doubled its brightness at lengths of infrared wave, then the star's light began to fade.

From the observations they were able to deduce that two planets had collided that the collision created an enormous glow that was the detected glow and that then the jets and columns of dust and fragments that were spreading from the collision were becoming larger and larger, creating a cloud that It was blocking the light of the star.

Researchers do not give a specific size to the planets involved, describing them as ice giants, therefore they should orbit far from the habitable zone of their star. In our solar system we have two ice giants, Uranus and Neptune, but they orbit calmly and peacefully. no risk of collision between them because there is never less than 1600 million kilometers between these two planets, that is more than 10 times the distance that separates the earth from the sun.

We have said that the star where this occurred is similar to the sun, what would happen if this star had rocky planets like the tender habitable zone, what could happen to them, it would be very bad news because even if the event occurred billions of kilometers away Of them, such a colossal collision would create millions of fragments, some of which could be hundreds of kilometers in diameter, fragments that are initially thrown in all directions but in the end many of them will end up attracted by the gravity of the Star, which It will cause a brutal bombardment of comets and asteroids on those possible planets that are in the habitable zone.

And that already happened in the solar system and it happened to the Earth, we know it from the scars that this event left on the moon, on Mars and on Mercury, it is known as the late intense bombardment, a period that occurred between 3800 and 4100 years ago. Approximately millions of years, during that period the Earth, the Moon and other bodies in the inner solar system suffered frequent, very violent impacts from large asteroids.

This period is the cause of most of the craters that we currently see on both the moon and Mercury. To explain this bombardment there are several theories and one of them is the collision between ancient neighboring planets that existed in the solar system.
