Electronic signature and digital signature

In today's world in which we live where technologies in all areas advance, mechanisms must be implemented to facilitate and guarantee legal processes that facilitate our daily life without inconveniences or delays.

For this reason, digital contracts and mechanisms such as digital and electronic signatures have been developed, which are used in resolutions, administrative acts, judicial rulings that we know of, this guarantees the use of a single authenticity signature mechanism and the integrity of the document that has been signed and that authenticity and integrity have a legal presumption that cannot be legally rejected.

We can say that the digital signature is a series of encrypted data that we add to the end of a document and that what it does is prove that whoever is validating that document is who they say they are and accepts what is stipulated in the document.

And the Electronic signature can include the digital signature, but normally they do not have the same validity as a digital signature, we can use it in simpler things such as an invoice, receipt of a parcel or for documents that are not really important.

Difference between electronic signature and digital signature

Here I show you some general differences between the digital signature and the electronic signature:

Unlike the electronic signature, in the digital signature every signed document contains the digital certificate of the signer, the encrypted keys and information of a person.

Since the digital signature has a legal verification process, it facilitates the verification and therefore the legality of the signature in any legal or legal document.

In terms of legal validity, the digital signature is similar to the handwritten signature, but the electronic signature does not have the same weight because it lacks inferior security mechanisms.

Advantages and disadvantages of both firms.

As for the advantages of the digital signature we have.

It has greater security and integrity since it previously has a digital certificate issued by a Central Authority or a third party that accredits it.

As the use of paper is eliminated in digital contracts, this implies a reduction in document storage and facilitates verification between the parties.

In many cases the signing of the agreements is facilitated, since the presence of the interested parties is not necessary because it can be done remotely.

Decreased execution times in the firms and therefore greater productivity of the parties and greater cost savings.

It is used in important and valuable documents between the parties

Regarding the disadvantages of the digital signature.

Like any new technology, technical personnel are required who know about the software to use and the security mechanisms to use.

Like all new technology, the cost of using it is higher than traditional media.

Regarding the advantages of the electronic signature.

It is used more frequently in less important documents and more daily use.

Regarding the disadvantages of electronic signature.

If it is not used properly, it can be very vulnerable in terms of security, a mechanism must be in place to prevent it from breaking.
