Comet “Diablo”

The media has chosen another object from the Cosmos to scare people, especially at this time when we are approaching Halloween, they have called it the Devil's Comet, these are the headlines that are floating around, "the Comet Three Times More bigger than Mount Eberes”, this comet is actually called its name is 12P/Pons-Brooks.

The nickname of this comet was not Comet Diablo, this was invented by the media, the nickname that astronomers had given it in the month of July is “millennium falcon” because in that month there was an explosion in this comet that It shaped the jets that came out of it, they had that shape of a “millennium falcon” ship, a Han Solo ship.

Keep in mind that a Comet is when it has cometary activity, you can find bodies hundreds of kilometers in diameter with frozen materials that are orbiting the sun peacefully without any type of cometary activity, the largest Comet could be Pluto if it faces the sun because Much of Pluto is made of ice and as it approaches the sun it would begin to have an activity that I would comment would be brutal, it would be something tremendous.

The important thing about this Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks is that there is no risk for the earth, with its 30 km diameter it does not represent any risk for the planet, it will approach the earth on June 2, 2024 and it will 230 million kilometers from us, that's four times the minimum distance that separates Earth from Mars, that's all it's going to get close to.

It does have a special characteristic, which is that it is a comet that suffers eruptions because it is basically composed of frozen material and when it is heated by the heat of the sun and that material evaporates and explodes violently, it is possible for it to pass so far away but it is quite large. that will be visible to the naked eye in 2024.
