An iron exoplanet

We have new data about one of the strangest known exoplanets in the universe, it is GJ 367 b, it is located 31 light years from us, it is smaller than the Earth, its radius is 70% of our planet, but its mass It is 60% larger, smaller, but with more mass, that means its density is enormous.

The last density calculation is 10.2 grams per cubic centimeter so that you have a reference, the density of the Earth is 5.51, this means that it is a world basically composed of metals and in the universe the most abundant Metal is Iron, this is an iron planet, but if you think that this world could be the paradise of space mining, you must keep one thing in mind and that is that it orbits very close to its star.

The year in this world lasts only 7.7 hours, this means that the planet always has one side facing the star and another where it is always night, this is defined as synchronous rotation, where eternal day exists, the temperature is calculated to be of almost 1100 degrees Celsius, it is not enough for iron to melt, the temperature would have to rise to 1538 degrees Celsius, but this is not what intrigues astronomers, what intrigues astronomers is how a such a dense planet.

Perhaps what has been captured is the core of an ancient planet that was much larger, perhaps a gas giant that lost its outer layers due to its proximity to the star. It is one of the possibilities that are being studied to reveal the mystery of this iron planet.
