Foods you should not eat before training.




What happens if I eat sweet pastries, cakes or pastries before training, in general it doesn't matter how good they look since these types of foods tend to sit like a brick in your stomach, and in general donuts, cakes and the like They raise our blood sugar levels very high, which can cause a crash in the middle of our training or race when our sugar levels suddenly drop.


Another example is a food that many of us consider healthy but that we should avoid before running. We find salads and raw vegetables and this is a concrete example of these foods that are considered healthy or even very healthy for our regular diet. However, vegetables can cause serious gastrointestinal problems and discomfort when running.


Lettuce, broccoli, cabbages, keil or kale, spinach and many other vegetables are very rich in fiber, which will almost guarantee abdominal bloating, discomfort when running, gas or even worse things.




In conclusion, I want you to get the idea that it is a mistake to consider foods as good or bad without taking into account the context in which we are consuming them and in this sense many foods that help us in the sedentary moments of our daily lives. , are not so good to consume immediately before or during exercise and the same goes for many, perhaps most, of the foods we eat during our exercises, especially those of long duration, such as, for example, an energy gel or an isotonic drink. They are not going to be as good for our body if we consume them mainly during the sedentary moments of our day.


Because in those moments of exercise we need simple sugars that are quick and easy for our body to assimilate because there the engine is running and requires that energy, something totally different from what happens when we are, for example, sitting now, in a chair, reading this post.


If there, at that moment we eat a food rich in simple carbohydrates, this will surely trigger our blood sugar peak and that will not be good for our body at that moment and you also have to keep in mind that there are foods that, due to their composition, Nutritional supplements work very well to ingest immediately after our training as recovery, but when consumed immediately before or shortly before starting the exercise, they can cause serious problems when running in our training and I would say mainly in our races.
