Day-to-day innovations across the world are aimed at making life easier and a better place for everyone – for instance, in this dispensation, it is easier to earn a living using a smartphone unlike in the olden days when white-collar jobs were like work for the rich; but in this age, it is difficult to differentiate who is richer than the other because of the various avenues of earning. However, some of the innovations that make life easier for us indirectly affect the basic demands of our society. One of these innovations is the creation of AI (Artificial intelligence); as beautiful as this innovation is, it mars the system of our society. Therefore, I want to share some benefits and drawbacks of AI.

Educational system:

The popularly known AI, “chatGPT” is commonly used in institutions to help carry out research, do assignments, and others; this makes the students achieve many tasks at the same time speedily. On the other, the innovation is making the students lazy in their studies, causing them to have a shallow knowledge of some things because the AI generated a compendium of what they needed. Sometimes, the information that the bot gives seems to be a summary of writings, research, contents, etc which is not helpful in the knowledge gathered by students.

Original Content Creation:

Still in line with the creation of Artificial Intelligence (AI), content on the internet is recycled, thereby new ideas, and storylines are no longer shared because the content creators rely on the bot to regenerate content or help gain ideas from the bot which limits their creativity and expansion of their potentials. Though gaining ideas from the bot is helpful it should not be a culture, there should be a moment when creators depend on their inner capacity to generate quality content.

Capacity Building:

One of my friends shared how AI has helped his growth in the tech world as a backend developer. Such a story is a merit to the creation of AI, but certainly, there are limitations. The bot may not truly give a strong foundation on the knowledge of web development; the only thing the bot does is that it gives a solution to the questions my friend asks and not a detailed tutorial on how to navigate through the world of tech.

Conclusion:

As we navigate the era of AI, it is crucial to recognize both the benefits and drawbacks associated with its integration into education, creativity, and skill development. Striking a balance between leveraging AI for efficiency and fostering individual growth is essential for creating a sustainable and thriving future.
