Work Out Is Not Just Muscle, Brain Is Included
I love science so I'm always reading science articles and watching science videos online. But this is one of the most shocking things I've learned today.
I have to confess, I barely have time to workout but after learning this, I think I'm going to create a habit of workout. It turns out that working out doesn't just improve your body muscles but also your brain. I always thought, reading, meditating and good sleep is the only thing the improves brain but workouts do too.
Researchers at UC Santa Barbara discovered that even a single, vigorous workout you Dona day can improve your brain functions like memory and executive function. They said it's more effective if the exercise lasts less than 30 minutes.
This shows that a little bit of high-intensity activities like riding a bike or jogging can have a positive impact on our thinking skills. So if you're a student and you want to be better in class, reading your notes and doing your assignments is not the only thing, you should add exercise.
We always thought that long-term exercise benefits the most but this new research is suggesting to us that we really don’t need to commit to lengthy workouts to boost our brainpower. Of course if you're focused on building muscle then that's a whole different story. You'll have to workout intensely for longer times to get the results.
I tried to think about how that works and I realized it actually makes sense because getting your heart rate up can help with blood flow and oxygen to the brain.
I guess those who feel a little bit overwhelmed by the idea of regular exercise can stop worrying. Just do a short exercise but it's always the consistency that makes the big difference at the end of the day. So you should do it regularly.
