Are Dogs Evolving To Be Man's Bester Friends?
We all know that popular old saying, a dog is a man's best friend. I'm starting to think the dogs have already gotten to message and are literally evolving biologically to be closer to humans and interact on a deeper level.
Decades ago, dogs were mainly used for hunting, herding or guarding the homes of people that just couldn't afford Human bodyguards and more expensive security systems. "beware of dogs" was a very famous label on the gates of people.
But nowadays they’re basically part of people's family. People get dogs, name them and give them rights and rooms in their homes. I don't have a pet in my house and I'm not an animal person so it's funny when I see how close animals are to some people.
That shift is not just about how we see them, it has actually changed their behavior and even their genes. Dogs in cities and small apartments don’t need the same skills as farm dogs. So, over time, our lap dogs or home dogs have become calmer, more social, and also more in tune with people.
Scientists have done some deep research into this behavioral changes and have found that dogs’ oxytocin which is more like a love hormone helps them bond with people even more. The dogs are literally becoming experts at reading us, adapting to us and getting better at responding to us.
So as we advance and our society and culture changes, even the animals we have as pets might change along.
